If you are lucky enough to be vacationing in Maui during the winter months (December thru early April) you may see a spout from your hotel room balcony, or while walking along the shoreline. Keep a close eye, you may see one leap out of the water. The best way to view these great creatures is from a whale watching boat. If you have only seen this on TV, do yourself a favor, spend the money, bring your camera, get ready to be wowed! Be sure and visit the Pacific Whale Foundation store and buy something to support their efforts in preserving this great animal.
I have been lucky to experience these animals from whale watching boats and sailboats on the island. It is something that never gets old. I get goosebumps thinking about all the mornings I spent on the balcony sipping coffee and watching the show in the ocean.
